Claudia Alarcón & Silät: Living, Weaving Book

270 pages, 8" x 11" x 1"

The ancestral power of the act of weaving lies at the core of the work of Claudia Alarcón & Silät, a collective of weavers from the Wichí people. Formed in 2023, the group currently comprises more than one hundred women who live in the province of Salta, north of Argentina. Under Alarcón's leadership, Silät developed techniques that allow textiles to be worked collectively. In a poetic manner, they combine within a single piece, different patterns and references drawn from Wichi's universe, their mythology, and their territory. With 113 images, five essays, and an interview, this is the most extensive publication on the work of Alarcón & Silät and accompanying their exhibitions at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand and at The Gund, Ohio.
