Following the completion of work from her May 2015 Gund residency, photographer Angélica Dass’ mural of 200 portraits of Humanæ participants from Madrid, Barcelona, Chicago, Paris, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Winterthur, Bergen, Daegu, Valencia, Addis Ababa, Valparaiso and Gambier is on view on the second floor of the museum’s Fischman Lobby for the duration of the 2015-2016 academic year. The rich diversity of skin tone found in the thousands of portraits taken during the artist’s ongoing international Humanæ project is formally expressed through the addition of corresponding Pantone colors and IDs that form the background of each portrait, amplifying our sense of unity in difference.
