Alexandra Courtois de Viçose, PhD

Responding to Christine Sun Kim's exhibition Oh Me Oh My, Dr. Alexandra Courtois's presentation will address deaf presence in the history of visual art. She will explore how deafness and Deaf culture have informed a wide range of artistic expressions, highlighting how Christine Sun Kim's practice encompasses many art forms in her exploration of the physical, spatial, and visual dimensions of sound. There will be ASL interpretation for the presentation.

We will be screening Art21's short film "Christine Sun Kim in 'Friends and Strangers'" featuring the artist and her practice after the talk.
