As part of its 15th anniversary celebration, Where Ideas Begin, The Gund at Kenyon College is honored to welcome internationally acclaimed artist and Ohio native Ann Hamilton for its Distinguished Lecture, presented in partnership with Kenyon College's Women's Conference. For more than four decades, Hamilton has expanded the boundaries of contemporary art through an interdisciplinary practice that brings together installation, performance, text, sound, and the human body. In this special lecture, she will reflect on the evolution of her work, the role of artistic research and the ways art can create spaces for connection, empathy and collective imagination, offering a rare opportunity to engage with one of the most influential artists of her generation.

About the Artist: Ann Hamilton is a visual artist known for her work in large scale, multi-media installations, public projects and performance collaborations. Responsive to the contingencies of the sites where she works, her recurring forms—cloth, texts spoken and written, animals, and people suspended or in motion—immerse viewers in an atmosphere both visceral and literary, individual and collective, animate and inanimate, silent and spoken.
