Job Description We seek two dynamic and enthusiastic Kenyon students interested in gaining more experience in the museum field to join our team at The Annex and contribute to our efforts in art education, community engagement, and outreach through summer programs for art enthusiasts of all ages. This internship provides a unique opportunity for two Kenyon College students to gain hands-on experience in a satellite gallery setting while making a positive impact in our local community. The Summer Interns in Art Education and Outreach at The Annex will:

  • Gain valuable experience in art education, community engagement, and museum programming within a satellite gallery setting.
  • Work closely with experienced gallery professionals and receive mentorship and guidance throughout the internship.
  • Contribute to meaningful educational initiatives and positively impact the local community.


  • Assist with Art Education Programs: Under the supervision and direction of the Coordinator of Engagement and Public Programs, support, develop, and implement innovative art education programs for diverse audiences, including workshops, lectures, and hands-on activities.
  • Facilitate Community Engagement Initiatives: Engage with local community partners and groups, schools, and organizations to enhance access to the gallery and promote participation in cultural events and programming.
  • Support K-12 Museum Programs: Contribute to the planning and execution of K-12 museum programs, including school visits, teacher workshops, and educational resource development.
  • Conduct Research and Evaluation: Conduct research on emerging trends in art education and community engagement and assist in evaluating the impact of gallery programs through data collection and analysis.
  • Administrative Tasks: Support gallery operations, including maintaining program outline, crafts, and material inventory, coordinating schedules, cleaning and ordering the space before and after programs and events, and assisting with event planning.
  • Other projects may be assigned in areas of collections care and curatorial research.

The Summer Interns in Art Education and Outreach at The Annex will report to the Coordinator of Engagement and Public Programs and will work an average of 35 hours a week from June 3rd to August 9th, 2024. The position will require the interns to be on campus.


  • Currently enrolled as a student at Kenyon College with a strong interest in art education, community engagement, and museum studies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Passion for working with K-12 students and educators and a commitment to fostering creativity and lifelong learning.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.

  • Following the Kenyon College Summer positions, this position will offer an hourly rate of $11.91.
  • Housing is covered by The Gund. Successful applicants need to apply for summer housing through Residence Life at Kenyon. The priority deadline for the summer housing application is April 18th.
